Application
Please be advised that our program
no longer is accepting paper applications and that all applicants are required
to apply through ERAS (Electronic Resident Application Service) to be considered.
All paper applications will be returned without review.
If you are unfamiliar with the ERAS system, their website can be found at
https://www.erasfellowshipdocuments.org/.
It gives general information on how to request certain items that are required
for the completion of the ERAS application. It includes information on required
fees, how to request a token that is needed to access an ERAS application,
and contact information for ERAS, which is operated by the Association of
American Medical Colleges. Any questions can be e-mailed to
myeras@AAMC.org, or you may also contact the Help Desk at 202-828-0413.
This website also includes information on letters of recommendation, Educational
Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) reports, United States Medical
Licensing Examination™ (USMLE™), and personal goals and statements.
After reviewing and understanding the process of submitting an ERAS application,
one can access the application and guidelines at https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras/fellowship_applicants/,
which will provide you with a step-by-step process to assist you in a successful
submission of your application.
The application requires the following information:
- Official medical school transcripts
- Official test transcripts for all applicable examinations (USMLE, LMCC,
COMLEX, NBOME, FMGEMS, FLEX or NBME)
- A letter from your Program Director and at least two (2) other letters
of recommendation
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- Valid ECFMG certificate (if you graduated from medical school outside
of the United States)
Through the ERAS process, you can
start applying to our program on November 15; however, we will not be downloading
applications for review until December 1. We will be accepting applications
from December 1, 2011– January 22, 2012.
The interview dates are:
- March 16 &17, 2012
- April 13 & 14, 2012
Accommodations
The Parkway Hotel, St. Louis (www.theparkwayhotel.com)
(314-256-7777 or 886-314-7700) is located adjacent to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital
Medical Center. The hotel is convenient to the Medical Center because it is
accessible by MetroLink. MetroLink is a clean, efficient light-rail system,
departing from the airport’s Main Terminal and East Terminal at 10-minute
intervals. It takes approximately 20 minutes to ride from the airport to the
Central West End MetroLink stop (where the Medical Center and Parkway Hotel
are located). As previously stated, the Medical Center is located at the Central
West End stop.
Reception and Interviews
The reception and dinner are on Friday night. On Friday evening, everyone
will meet at The Parkway Hotel and will be taken to the reception and dinner.
This will be an opportunity for applicants to meet the residents and the faculty
informally. The interviews are held on Saturday morning. Marc Moon, M.D.,
Program Director, will present an overview of the training program as well
as a description of the rotations. Following this, applicants will have several
interviews over the next 2½- to 3-hour period.
At the conclusion of the interviews,
applicants will have lunch and then will be taken on a tour of the facilities
including the hospitals and research buildings. The day concludes by 2 p.m.
