Cardiothoracic Basic Science
Research Laboratory
All cardiothoracic research facilities – occupying about 6,500 square
feet of space – are located in the Clinical Sciences Research Building
that is attached to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
The facilities include animal surgical suites equipped with state-of-the-art
respirators and anesthesia machines, ECG machines, high-fidelity pressure monitors,
flow meters, defibrillators and cardiopulmonary bypass machines.
The laboratory is well equipped for performing a wide range of investigations
– from cellular and molecular biology to large animal system physiology
– with full-time staff providing complete support for all ongoing research.
Washington University physicians are the medical staff of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital
